DIPC is a research center whose mission is to perform and catalyze cutting-edge research in physics and related disciplines, as well as to convey scientific culture to society. Located in Donostia / San Sebastian (Basque Country, Spain), DIPC started activity in 2000 and was born from a strategic alliance of both public institutions and private companies. Currently, the centre’s board of patrons is integrated by the Basque Government, Gipuzkoa Provincial Council, San Sebastian City Council, and the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), as well as by Kutxa, CAF, Telefónica and EDP. Since 2008 DIPC is a ‘Basque Excellence Research Center’ (BERC) recognized by the Basque Government’s Department of Education. In 2019, DIPC has been also recognized as a ‘Severo Ochoa’ Excellence Center by the Spanish Research Agency.
The Condensed Matter Physcis Center is a Research Center within UAM, located in the campus of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid pursuing cutting-edge research and scientific excellence. It comprises researchers from several university departments aiming to advance the limits of knowledge in both theoretical and experimental Condensed Matter Physics. Sixty four researchers constitute its permanent staff with nineteen young resarchers (RyC, talent grant, Junior leader, IFIMAC positions) and up to one hundred and fourty postdoctoral researchers and Ph.D students. Research performed in the institute has gained world reputation in the following areas: Advanced Materials, First Principles Simulations and Modeling, Nanophysics, Nano and Quantum Optics, Soft Condensed Matter and Biophysics
